BASQUIAT

BasquiatJean‑Michel Basquiat was a Brooklyn‑born painter who rose from the downtown graffiti scene to become a defining voice of 1980s Neo‑Expressionism. Blending text, symbols, and bold color, his work explored race, identity, and power. By his early twenties he was exhibiting globally and collaborating with Andy Warhol. Basquiat died in 1988 at 27, leaving behind an influential legacy and some of the most valuable artworks of his era.
